This ice maker is a replacement for Whirlpool top mount and side by side refrigerators. The kit includes all the components needed to add or replace ice maker. It is designed to produce a steady supply of ice cubes. You may need to replace yours if the ice maker is not producing ice or producing insufficient quantites, leaks or has water pooling near the ice maker, loud and unusual noises during operation, visible damage or wear and tear to the ice maker components. Causes can include mineral buildup from hard water, wear on internal components, motor, ejector blades, or issues with the water supply line.
