Vulcan 500-CI is a nickel iron alloy with a coating designed to convert the impurities of the base metal into slag instead of being trapped in the deposit. Its soft-arc design prevents deep penetration and thus allows for easy maintenance welding of cast iron. Produces machinable, porous-free weld deposits. Capable of handling high current. Typically used for fabrication and difficult repair of all gray and alloyed cast irons. Examples include welding cylinder heads, machine bases, gear housings, and cams. Also used for filling holes, repairing cast gear teeth, and building up or replacing missing sections. Suitable for welding steel to cast iron.
