Each wax ring features a built-in polyethylene horn that helps hold the ring's shape and guide the toilet outlet into a 3-inch or 4-inch drain opening. This thickness is designed for toilet flanges that sit above the finished floor, level with the floor, or up to 1/4 inch below it. Measure the flange height before installation. A deeply recessed flange may require an extender or a thicker wax ring. The package contains two wax rings only. Closet bolts, nuts, washers, bolt caps and other mounting hardware are not included. The polyethylene horn is built into each wax ring and should not be confused with a separate replacement closet flange. Before installation, remove the old wax, clean the mounting area and inspect the new ring for heat or shipping damage. Lower the toilet straight down and press evenly to compress the wax. Do not lift or reposition the toilet after compression. If the toilet must be removed, use a new wax ring before resetting it.
