Correct installation method
1. Warning: In order to provide continuous shock protection, have a qualified electrician properly install the ground fault circuit breaker (GFC/) receptacle
2. Suitable for outdoor use, and immediately install rain and snow protection near the location where the equipment is used.
3. When using the deicer, the heating element must always be submerged in water. When used as a floating deicer, ensure that the rope is placed correctly to ensure that the deicer floats on a level surface
4. Never let the pond run dry.
5. Don't use extension cords! Check the wires for damage before use
6. When inserting the heating element, do not expose it to air. The heating element must be underwater at all times.
Maintenance
You can thread the power cord through the top of the housing so that you can unscrew the heater from the bottom of the housing. Once the heater is removed from the housing, run the heater under warm water and clean it with cloth and soapy water, if this method is difficult to remove the scale, use lime removal! Simply soak the steel heating element in a shallow dish filled with a half-inch deep lime removal solution. After soaking and cleaning, rinse and reassemble the deicer into the housing。
Floating mode
Place the heater in the desired location of the pond and plug it into an outlet. It is important to ensure that the outlet is usable outdoors, protected from rain and snow, the pond deicer automatically turns on and off once the surrounding water temperature drops, is thermostically controlled, and maintains an ice-free area.
Diving mode
Simply unscrew the floating ring from the top of the deicer to convert to a submersible deicer. If the surface of the pond is frozen
1. Drill a hole in the ice with an ice drill. (Be careful not to cut the ice, as the shock wave can injure or kill your fish.)
2. Then put your heater through this hole and run your wire to a properly grounded outlet, protecting the wire from damage.
If you don't have an ice drill
1. Place a large saucepan or bucket filled with water on the ice.
2. Place the heater in a container of water and plug the heater into a properly grounded outlet.
3. The heater will heat the water and container, melting a hole in the pond ice. When a hole is
melted unplug the heater and remove the container.
4. Thread the heater through the hole and connect the power cable to the grounded socket to
avoid damage to the power cable

Common questions about buying open-box and refurbished.
Why buy refurbished or open-box?
Refurbished and open-box products offer the same performance as new at a fraction of the price. You're already saving $28 on this listing. They've been inspected, tested, and are ready to use — the only difference is the price tag. Buying refurbished also reduces electronic waste, extending product life cycles and keeping functional devices out of landfills.
What's the difference between open-box and refurbished?
Open-box products are customer returns that have been inspected and confirmed functional. They may show little to no use — often the item was returned simply because the buyer changed their mind. Refurbished products have been professionally repaired or restored by technicians, tested to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications, and sometimes come with a warranty. Both are a smart alternative to buying new.
Why use OpenBoxFox?
Finding refurbished deals is time-consuming — you'd have to check Amazon Warehouse, Reebelo, Dyson Outlet, and others separately for MAPOTAD products. OpenBoxFox aggregates these listings in one place, so you can compare and find the best deal without the legwork. We update pricing daily so you always see current availability and real savings.
Is it safe to buy refurbished?
Yes. Products listed on OpenBoxFox come from established retailers like Amazon, Reebelo, and Dyson — not unknown third-party sellers. Each retailer has buyer protection policies, return windows, and in some cases warranties. You get the price advantage of used goods with the purchase security of a known retailer.
