Description

The HACHIEMON RYOBA Japanese Hand Saw is produced using traditional Japanese techniques such as "asari-kako" (saw tooth setting) and "suki-kenma" (a special grinding method), so it's incredibly sharp and glides right through whatever wood you're cutting. Thanks to its double edge, it can be used effectively for both crosscuts and rip cuts. Since the blade is impulse hardened (by rapidly alternating hot and cold temperatures) for increased hardness and plated with electroless nickel, it's extremely durable and resistant to corrosion. In order to keep saw blade resistance to a minimum, the company logo is printed on with lasers. Blade length: 8.3 inches (210mm), total length: 21 inches (535mm), weight: 4.4 ounces (125g), MADE IN JAPAN. Features of the The HACHIEMON RYOBA Japanese Hand Saw

RYOBA (Double Edge)
The double edge saw has a Crosscut blade and a Rip-cut blade.

Crosscut blade
Left-right pairs of teeth lie in series, and both tips on each pair are as sharp as knives. It's designed to cut continuously through wood fibers. It's used when cutting across the grain and has a smaller tooth pitch than the rip-cut blade.

Rip-cut blade
Although this blade is similar to the crosscut blade in that it has a series of left-right pairs of teeth, the tips of the teeth are flat, which creates a series of flat chisel-like blades that shave material off the wood's surface. The rip-cut blade is for cutting along the wood grain, though it's also used for cutting hardwood.

Asari-kako (saw tooth setting)
Asari-kako is a technique that involves bending the teeth to the sides so that the blade doesn't get caught in the wood during use. The blade won't slide smoothly if the teeth are set too wide or too narrow, so it must be done by a highly skilled and experienced craftsman.

Suki-kenma grinding
Suki-kenma is a grinding technique that thickens the edges of the blade and thins it down toward the middle section. By grinding away the central portion of the blade to make it thinner, it reduces friction when cutting into wood and helps clear away sawdust from the cut, allowing the saw to cut smoothly and easily.

Common questions about buying open-box and refurbished.

Why buy refurbished or open-box?
Refurbished and open-box products offer the same performance as new at a fraction of the price. They've been inspected, tested, and are ready to use — the only difference is the price tag. Buying refurbished also reduces electronic waste, extending product life cycles and keeping functional devices out of landfills.
What's the difference between open-box and refurbished?
Open-box products are customer returns that have been inspected and confirmed functional. They may show little to no use — often the item was returned simply because the buyer changed their mind. Refurbished products have been professionally repaired or restored by technicians, tested to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications, and sometimes come with a warranty. Both are a smart alternative to buying new.
Why use OpenBoxFox?
Finding refurbished deals is time-consuming — you'd have to check Amazon Warehouse, Reebelo, Dyson Outlet, and others separately for HACHIEMON products. OpenBoxFox aggregates these listings in one place, so you can compare and find the best deal without the legwork. We update pricing daily so you always see current availability and real savings.
Is it safe to buy refurbished?
Yes. Products listed on OpenBoxFox come from established retailers like Amazon, Reebelo, and Dyson — not unknown third-party sellers. Each retailer has buyer protection policies, return windows, and in some cases warranties. You get the price advantage of used goods with the purchase security of a known retailer.
