Use automatic mode when you want sensor-controlled drainage. Insert the sensor into one of the three lower positions to select the start level: approximately 5 in., 3.5 in. or 2.5 in. of water depth. The pump continues running for about 15 seconds after water no longer covers the sensor. For lower automatic drainage, the sensor can be placed directly on the floor; on uneven surfaces, keep the sensor slightly higher than the pump intake to help prevent dry running.
Use manual mode for shallow water removal when you want more direct control. With the check valve installed, the pump can remove water down to 1/25 inch. Always monitor manual operation and unplug the pump promptly after drainage.
