Once you have the alarm installed, you'll be able to monitor it from anywhere if you have your connected Android or iOS mobile device with you. The Nest Protect will send you a text message warning whenever smoke, heat, or gas set off the alarm in your home. The Protect Alarm can also provide an early warning notification before an emergency disaster actually strikes - you might get a text message notification from your Smart Nest Protect Alarm early enough to avert a disaster before it grows too big to control.
This Nest Protect Alarm model is powered by six Energizer Ultimate AA lithium batteries that should provide multiple years of operation before the first battery replacement is required. The alarm features an integrated self-testing function. Several times each day it runs diagnostic tests on itself to make sure that it is working perfectly. You can easily tell if your Nest Protect is still working smoothly because every time you turn the lights off a glowing green light ring will appear quickly. This LED indicator is designed to let you know that your Nest Protect Alarm is still running strong. The Protect Alarm will also notify you when the long-life AA lithium batteries are nearing the end of their life so you'll know all six AA batteries need to be replaced.
