Description
A Natural Partner for A5: H5 is designed to visually and sonically complement the A5 amplifier, sharing a compact black HiFi look while adding tube warmth, MM phono input, tone control, and refined subwoofer integration for a richer, more complete stereo system.
Flexible Phono and RCA Input: Use MM Phono for MM turntables and RCA Line In for DACs, CD players, streamers, computers, and more. The 20Hz HPF helps tame unwanted vinyl rumble, keeping record playback cleaner, steadier, and more controlled.
Dual Outputs with Subwoofer Control: Dual RCA outputs let H5 feed two amplifiers or powered speakers at the same time, making it easier to expand your HiFi setup. SUB Out with 180/250Hz LPF helps reduce boomy overlap with main speakers for fuller, cleaner, better-integrated bass.
Optimized GE-4BZ6 Tube Character: Tuned around GE-4BZ6 tubes with 180V tube drive, H5 brings smooth warmth, rich midrange body, and natural analog depth to vocals, jazz, and vinyl playback, giving you a refined tube sound from the start without chasing tube upgrades.
Shape Sound With Refined Control: Bass and treble controls make quick sound adjustment easy, while shielded tube power and 4th-gen relay help reduce interference and switching noise. A pluggable NE5532 op-amp leaves room for experienced users to explore different sound flavors.
Douk Audio H5 Vacuum Tube MM Phono Preamp & Stereo Preamplifier with Subwoofer Output
H5 is a compact tube preamp built to sit beside the Douk Audio A5 amplifier and share the same black metal look. It does two jobs in one chassis: it lifts the tiny MM phono signal from a record player to line level with proper RIAA equalization, and it adds tube warmth, tone control and a dedicated subwoofer output to any line-level source. A turntable, a DAC, a streamer and a powered subwoofer can all run through one volume knob, which keeps a desk or shelf system simple and clean.
Features
· MM phono input for turntables without a built-in phono preamp, plus a separate RCA line input for DACs, CD players, streamers, computers, TVs and phones
· Front PHONO / RCA / OFF selector switches the input and also powers the unit off, with a power indicator next to it
· Two RCA outputs (RCA 1 / RCA 2) feed an amplifier and active speakers at the same time; both outputs carry the same signal and cannot be switched independently
· SUB Out with a 180Hz / 250Hz low-pass switch for a powered subwoofer, so the sub blends with your main speakers instead of doubling the same low notes
· 20Hz high-pass filter (FLAT-HPF switch) reduces turntable rumble and record warp noise; it works in Phono input mode only
· Bass and Treble knobs give ±6dB of adjustment for quick tuning of thin or boomy records; they do not affect the SUB Out signal
· Two GE 4BZ6 tubes with 180V tube drive, isolated power shielding and a 4th-gen switching relay to reduce interference and switching noise
· One socketed NE5532 dual op-amp, replaceable with compatible dual op-amps (OPA2604 / OPA2134 / LM49720 / MUSES02)
· Compact 5.12 × 4.41 × 1.30in metal chassis weighing 1.14lb, with three front knobs (BASS / TRE / VOL)

Setup Notes
· Turntable with its own built-in phono preamp? Connect it to the RCA input, not the Phono input. Sending an already-equalized phono signal into the Phono input can cause noise, distortion or very abnormal sound.
· The Phono input is for MM cartridges. Low-output MC cartridges are not supported, because the Phono input is designed around a 5mV signal level.
· The supplied adapter is DC 12V/2A. If you use another one, choose a quality DC 12V adapter rated 1.5A or above with a 5.5 × 2.1mm plug.
· Only 4BZ6 tubes are supported. Power the unit off before replacing tubes.
· Both RCA outputs and the SUB Out are active at the same time and are controlled by the same volume knob.

Common questions about buying open-box and refurbished.
Why buy refurbished or open-box?
Refurbished and open-box products offer the same performance as new at a fraction of the price. You're already saving $24 on this listing. They've been inspected, tested, and are ready to use — the only difference is the price tag. Buying refurbished also reduces electronic waste, extending product life cycles and keeping functional devices out of landfills.
What's the difference between open-box and refurbished?
Open-box products are customer returns that have been inspected and confirmed functional. They may show little to no use — often the item was returned simply because the buyer changed their mind. Refurbished products have been professionally repaired or restored by technicians, tested to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications, and sometimes come with a warranty. Both are a smart alternative to buying new.
Why use OpenBoxFox?
Finding refurbished deals is time-consuming — you'd have to check Amazon Warehouse, Reebelo, Dyson Outlet, and others separately for Douk Audio products. OpenBoxFox aggregates these listings in one place, so you can compare and find the best deal without the legwork. We update pricing daily so you always see current availability and real savings.
Is it safe to buy refurbished?
Yes. Products listed on OpenBoxFox come from established retailers like Amazon, Reebelo, and Dyson — not unknown third-party sellers. Each retailer has buyer protection policies, return windows, and in some cases warranties. You get the price advantage of used goods with the purchase security of a known retailer.
