CFS Sediment Water Filters for Campbell HDSC5, HDSC30, 10 x 4.5, 1 Pack — Open-Box, 17% Off
Brand: CFS
Description
The heavy duty sediment stage for Campbell systems: graded depth media captures sand, silt, dirt and rust at whole house flow. This is the 5 micron workhorse for Campbell HDF150 and CHD-100 large capacity housings and standard big blue systems, a direct replacement for HDSC5 cartridges. Actual size 9-3/4 by 4-1/2 inches.
Graded depth means the media is denser toward the core than at the surface. Coarse particles are caught near the outside and progressively finer ones deeper in the wall, so the whole thickness does work rather than just the outer face. That holds considerably more dirt before your pressure starts to fall.
If you prefer a coarser grade, that is the HDSC30 at 30 micron, which fits the same housings and gives higher flow on heavy sediment. And if you are running taste and odor duty rather than sediment, the Campbell HDTO carbon cartridge fits the same housings too.
Check the size before ordering. This is the 10 by 4.5 inch big blue format, not the 20 inch big blue and not a slim line 10 by 2.5 inch cartridge. All three look broadly alike in a photograph and none are interchangeable, so measure the one you are pulling out.
This is sediment media: it captures particles and nothing else. It is not carbon and does not change the taste or odor of your water. Replace when the pressure at your taps starts dropping, typically every three to six months depending on your supply. CFS is an independent brand, a compatible replacement and not an OEM part.
CFS graded depth sediment cartridge at 5 micron for 10 by 4.5 inch big blue housings, actual size 9-3/4 by 4-1/2 inches, replacing Campbell HDSC5. It fits HDF150 and CHD-100 large capacity housings and any standard big blue housing built around that size. Graded depth is what separates this from a surface filter. The media is laid down looser at the outside and progressively denser toward the core, so coarse particles are caught near the surface and finer ones deeper in the wall. The whole thickness of the media does work rather than just the outer face, which means the cartridge holds considerably more dirt before your pressure starts to drop, and when it drops it falls gradually rather than all at once. There are two other cartridges worth knowing about for the same housings. If you want a coarser grade, the HDSC30 runs at 30 micron and gives higher flow where sediment is heavy, at the cost of letting finer material through. And if taste and odor is the actual complaint rather than grit, the Campbell HDTO carbon cartridge fits the same housings and does that job instead. Many owners run one of each in a two stage setup. Check the size before ordering, because this is where most wrong orders happen. This is the 10 by 4.5 inch big blue format, not the 20 inch big blue and not the slim line 10 by 2.5 inch cartridge. All three are white cylinders that look much the same in a photograph and none of them are interchangeable, so measure the one you are pulling out rather than going by the model name on your housing. Be clear about what this cartridge does: it captures sand, silt, dirt, rust and scale through mechanical filtration and that is the whole of it. There is no carbon in it, so it does not reduce chlorine, taste or odor. Replace when the pressure at your taps starts dropping, which is how a sediment cartridge tells you it is finished, typically every three to six months depending on your supply. CFS is an independent brand and this is a compatible replacement, not an original manufacturer part.
